Z2 Remote3 Winsock supplies a connection to remote IP connections on other machines on a LAN -- a unique approach to modem sharing not usually found in modem-sharing programs. It doesn't require proxy settings in any applications, so some IP apps that will not work with proxies might finally work with Z2. Z2 uses a false winsock to shim itself between the program and the real winsock in the Windows directory, redirecting IP calls to the remote machine.

"Rdialer" can actually contact a machine on the network (set up as a Z2 server) and query its Dial-Up Networking settings to remotely dial up an Internet connection. This saves users from having to physically visit the remote PC to connect it to the Internet (a unique and very nice feature). Z2 doesn't work with all programs but can support most IP applications, and it's free for up to two users (and still cheap for more).
