ICS notes

I started compiling notes for my classes and posting them here. These notes are for topics that I feel may not have been explained very clearly in class or in the text. Also posted are things that might provide a useful reference in the future.

ICS 311 - Algorithms & Data Structures
ICS 312 - Machine Level Programming

ICS 111 Summer 1999
ICS 111 Summer 2000
- websites for the summer sessions while I was the TA. Besides having some notes of interest to beginning Java programmers, useful references include:

JBuilder w/ Projects and Applets
File Input & Output

I'm currently studying computer science at the University of Hawaii. Below is a link to the ICS department.

- Applet example of the Tower of Hanoi puzzle.
- Mathematical approach involving the minimum number of moves required for solving the puzzle.
- A simple explanation for working out recursive solutions.

Recursion and Tower of Hanoi - This page also has a good intro to recursion and uses Tower of Hanoi to illustrate. Although I think there's a small error in the algorithm description of Tower of Hanoi in step 1, the principles are explained very well.
